This month, we have curated a unique sit-down (literally!) meal from Smita Deo’s fantastic memoir ‘Karwar to Kolhapur via Mumbai.’
The lovely Smita is a passionate food lover who loves to cook and feed people. That’s the perfect ingredients (in our minds) for a book author to be made up of. Smita will be cooking up a meal for members that will feature her favourite recipes and talk about the stories behind them as we eat. It is going to be a riveting culinary soiree and you are invited!
Thalipeeth and Chutney
(A thin small crisp roti served with a dollop of white butter)
(Spicy delicious moist mutton chops that are not fried)
Balu Kaka’s Chicken Curry
(A chicken curry from Karwar taught to Smita by her uncle)
Muttonacha Pandhra Rassa
(Lamb cooked in fresh coconut milk, very mild to taste)
(The traditional Karwar fish curry you can’t miss)
(Corn on the cob a variation of the Kolhapuri tambda rassa for the vegetarians)
(A mild colocassia leaves curry, full of health)
(A mildly flavored dal with ginger and laced with coconut oil)
(A relish made with fruits and a tangy chutney)
(A spicy chutney from Kolhapur)
